Scholar from remote village gets conferred with Ph.D | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 5: Ripu Daman Parihar son of Chaman Lal Parihar and Gita Devi, resident of Village Nali Bounjwah, Tehsil Bunjwah District Kishtwar Jammu and Kashmir has been awarded the Degree of Doctor of Philosphy (Ph.D) in Life Sciences (Zoology) by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The award was given by Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar in 44th annual convocation of the university. Ripu Daman Parihar worked on the topic "Survey of Some Areas of Punjab for Presence of Entomopathogenic Nematodes" under the guidance of Dr. Puja Ohri (Assistant Professor) and Dr. Satwinder Kaur (Professor). , Department of Zoology, GNDU Amritsar. In the year 2013-14, he has also been conferred with National Youth Award by Govt. of India for his exemplary social work for the society with prime focus on Agriculture, where farmers need efficient and ecofriendly solutions to their problems. In this Scenario, his work becomes relevant as Biocontrol of insect pests through natural enemies is a better solution than hazardous chemical control methods. He has also presented his work in many National and International conferences. In the year 2015, he also represented India in an International Youth exchange programme in China. It is important to mention here that Ripu Daman Parihar belong to a very backward and neglected region Bunjwah and had become an inspiration for the Youth of Jammu and Kashmir. |
