| Infiltration bid foiled in Machil, three militants killed | | | S Tahir-ul Haq

KUPWARA, June 6: Three militants were killed while they were trying to infiltrate into this side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector of Kupwara. Srinagar based spokesperson, col Rajesh Kalia confirmed to Early Times about the killing of three militants in Machil sector of this north Kashmir district.
However a senior army officer stationed in Kupwara said that army foiled an infiltration bid by killing three militants in Machhil area.
The officer said that possibility of presence of more militants cannot be ruled out who may have taken shelter in the dense woods.
Helicopter was pressed into service to locate hiding militants and additional reinforcement was called in from the nearby army units so that area could be cordoned off, the official informed.
He further said the searches are being conducted in the area, till the last reports came in. |
