'PHE employees recover dead animal from water reservoir' | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report Anantnag, June 6: Resident of Aishmuqam town in south Kashmir' Anantnag district on Wednesday said that the employees of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department recovered a dead animal from the water reservoir were from they are getting drinking water supply. Residents said that the employees recovered the dead animal from the tank and didn't allow them to take photographs of the dead animal. "They asked us to hush up the issue and didn't allow us to take the photographs of the dead animal," Imtiyaz Ahmad, a local resident told Early Times over phone. Many other residents also took to social media networking site Facebook and demanded action against the erring employees and officials of the PHE department and said that the incident has shocked the residents "..Dead dog was pulled out from the filtration plant which has not been covered by the irresponsible and negligent officials of the PHE department who are meant for the job, the people who witnessed this protested against this negligence," villagers wrote on Facebook. "Employees responsible for this incident should be immediately suspended," they demanded They said that after the incident people at large are apprehensive about their health and requested health department to take adequate measures in advance. They also requested PHE department to cover the newly inaugurated water reservoir to avoid such incidents and situations in future. However, Assistant Execative Engineer PHE Aishmuqam, Mudasir Ahmad Malik refuted the claims of residents and said they have emptied the reservior for deselliting. "It's a baseless claim. SHO and SDM visited the site. Deslitting of reservoir is taking place that is why we have emptied It," he said. |
