Traffic Police City Jammu Launched a Crackdown against the Misuse of Police, Press, Army & VIP Stickers | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 15: The traffic police city Jammu today launched a crackdown on the offenders using Police, Press, Army or VIP stickers in an unauthorised way. Generally, the police do not check vehicles with stickers of the Army, Press, Police or VIP. The misuse of these stickers has become rampant. A number of people has pasted these stickers unauthorisedly to avoid police action. During a drive conducted at the busy Narwal Chowk, the Traffic police removed No. of Press, Police & VIP stickers from the cars. The persons driving these vehicles could not produce any authority to use these stickers and failed to explain the reasons to traffic Cops, which were headed by DySP (T) City South Jammu Rajpal Singh along with DTI Sanjeev Rajwal. DySP Raj Pal Singh said the drive would continue and those found involved in plying vehicles with these stickers unauthorisedly would be taken to task. During the drive, Traffic police challaned number of persons with Police, Army, VIP and Press stickers on their vehicles. Besides This, DySP (T) City North Sunny Gupta laid a Naka at Akhnoor Road, Near Paloura along with DTI Surjeet Kumar and challaned no. of Vehicles for excess speed and Rash driving. ASP (Traffic) City Jammu PD Sharma said the Press stickers were issued to journalists, so that they could access trouble-torn and even those areas, which were barred to common public. However, a number of persons were found using these stickers in an unlawful manner and this practice should be dealt with with an iron hand. "During the past few drives, we found unfamiliar faces, which left the traffic cops puzzled. When we sought the documents regarding their identity, they failed to produce these. Moreover, we also got numerous complaint about the rampant misuse of these stickers," said SSP Traffic Jogindar Singh and adding that this drive would be held regularly to check violations. |
