8 food establishments' challaned for unsanitary & unhygienic conditions

JAMMU, June 15: A team of Food Safety Officers led by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Municipal Limit Jammu, challaned 8 food establishments for unsanitary and unhygienic conditions.
A team of Food Safety Officers led by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Jammu inspected various food establishments viz meat and chicken shops, halwais, restaurants etc. The team also comprised of Food Safety Officers namely Ajay Khajuria, Daleep Singh, Hans Raj Andotra and Pervaiz Ahmed.
The team challaned 8 shopkeepers for unsanitary and unhygienic conditions under Food Safety and Standard Act 2006 provisions.
The shopkeepers, which were challaned were Shafi Meat Shop, Paweeza Halal Meat Shop, Bismillah Halal Meat Shop, Majid Meat Shop at Janipur, Chowdhary Halal Chicken Shop at Amphalla, Aman Jhatka Meat Shop, Nafees Halal Meat Shop and KS Jhatka Meat Shop at New plot, Jammu.
Dr Parvesh Kumar instructed all the shopkeepers to serve good quality meat, chicken and other food articles during the eve of Eid. 'If anyone found selling sub standard food items to the customers, strict action warranted under law will be initiated", he asserted.
Dr Parvesh Kumar asked them to maintain the norms as per Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), otherwise strict action will be taken in future. He added that this drive will continue in entire city for the safety of public health.
The shopkeepers were asked to maintain personal and food hygiene. They were informed that the waste material should be thrown in dustbins and not in open so as to realize the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Swaach Bharat" Mission.
This special drive was conducted under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Food Safety Jammu Division.
