Sanchita pay tributes to brave soldiers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 15: Tributes were paid to the Indian Armed Forces today in an event held by Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust, in collaboration with J&K Academy of Arts Culture and Languages and 92.7 BIG FM. Kathak dancer Sanchita Abrol paid homage to the unsung heroes, the brave soldiers of our country through her enthralling performance Pryustu (The Yodha) - Tales of Unsung Heroes during 'Innovation in Art' event held by Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust at Abhinav Theatre. Celebrated theatre writer and director Aarushi Thakur Rana also showcased the Hindi adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet during the event. Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest at the event, while Danish Rana, IPS IGP Armed Jammu was the guest of honour. Speaking about her performance, Sanchita said: "Pryustu (The Yodha) - Tales of Unsung Heroes is based on classical Dogri poetry by Kunwar Viyogi and "The Valley Roars" by the author of Chameleon Lights, Ayushman Jamwal. This performance is an ode to the warriors of the valley, carrying out their duty to protect the country with unparallel courage and an unbounded spirit of patriotism. Dance drama seeks to realise the value of freedom and the heroic sacrifices made by these warriors." Poonam Singh Jamwal, founder, Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust said that through 'Innovation in Art', the Trust has once again attempted to give youth a platform to showcase their talent. She stressed that through the event, the Trust also wanted to pay tributes to the Armed Forces of the nation who sacrifice their lives for the nation. "Kunwar Viyogi, my father, was a Group Captain in the Air Force and a true patriotic. From him I have learned the value of sacrifice and I salute every soldier who has laid his life for the nation," she said. Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust is instituted in the memory of Sahitya Akademi Awardee Group Captain Randhir Singh, popularly known as `Kunwar Viyogi' in literary circles. Education, literary, art innovation, technological advancements in language and literature and entertainment are the key areas through which the Trust works towards the revival, preservation and promotion of Dogri language. |
