Day 2: 1433 pilgrims allowed to trek towards Holy cave from Pahalgam | | | Early Times Report Anantnag, June 29: Authorities Friday morning allowed just 1433 pilgrims to trek towards the Holy Amaranth cave and later suspended the Amaranth Yatra due incessant rainfall. Authorities told Early Times that a total 1433 pilgrims were allowed to move towards the holy cave after the formal flag off ceremony by the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Mohd Younis Malik. However later the authorities disallowed the pilgrims as the weather didn't showed any improvement. They said that the landslides had damaged a portion of Pahalgam Amaranth Yatra track at 30th Kilometer during the intervening night and Baltal route too had suffered damage, however both the tracks have been restored by the authorities. "We put our men on work and restored the track which landslides had damaged," Manzoor Ahmad Beg, Executive Engineer PDA told Early Times over phone. Yesterday 1007 pilgrims had paid obeisance at the Holy Cave. Thousands of pilgrims are currently stationed at Nunwanan-Pahalgam and Baltal-Sonamarg base camps. |
