Dilapidated Ramnagar-Katwalt road adds to peoples' woes | | | Ashwani Sharma Early Times Report
Udhampur, June 29: The dilapidated condition of Ramnagar-Katwalt road is multiplying public problems with the authorities concerned doing nothing in this regard. Due to continuous rains the road has turned slippery as mud is spread all over it. Locals told Early times that time and again they visited the concerned departments but all in vain. "We met the local MLA many times but he did nothing except assurances," Narinder Singh Thakur a social activist informed. He also informed that a population of 35,000 aproximatly is affected by the poor condition of this road. The worst hit villages include Chowki, Majua, Rassain, Damk, Katwalt, Sullan etc. The locals are so much frustrated by the apathy of the authorities that they themselves are out to correct the road so that vehicles can easily ply over it with safety to leave the passengers to their destinations. Videos showing a bus trapped in muddy water on road being pushed by the locals and passengers so that it may come out of it is going viral on social media but still authorities are unmoved by all this. "If all this continues then there is a possibility of some mishap as the area is prone to road accidents," Sat Paul-a retired cop living at a nearby village said. The affected people appealed to the Governor N.N Vohra and DC Udhampur Ravinder Kumar to look into the matter. |
