J&K Scene Watch expresses resentment over reservation policy in recruitment | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, July 1: J&K Scene Watch, an NGO, has expressed its resentment over reservation policy in recruitment especially in the education department. The members of J&K Scene Watch raised fingers on the credibility/ efficiency of ST category candidate selected for the post of science teacher merely by scoring 5.75 marks out of 120 in written examination conducted by the J&K Service Selection Board (JKSSB). "What would be the future of the poor students who study in government schools if such teachers would be appointed to teach them? This is a cruel joke of the state education department and discrimination with highly educated/ meritorious unemployed youth from unreserved category" said Shahbaz Khan, chairman of the NGO. The teacher selected by the JKSSB belongs to ST category from Kulgam district in Kashmir and is a Science graduate, he said "We are not against her (teacher selected) ST category but our resentment is against the faulty recruitment rules that need to be amended as soon as possible. Like Service Selection Committee (SSC) there should be at least minimum qualifying score prescribed for selection in JKSSB and JKPSC" said RS Malla, general secretary, NGO. "Had a 5th standard student been allowed to appear in the written examination by the JKSSB, he would have scored at least 15+ marks out of 120 than a science graduate. It is a pity that our faulty recruitment and reservation rules have helped a candidate with less than 6 marks out of 120, a so called science teacher in government school," said Shahbaz Khan. Members of the NGO appealed to the Governor to look into such developments and cancel such appointments. |
