Militant killed, two army men injured in ongoing encounter along LoC in Kupwara | | | Early Times Report
KUPWARA, July 16: Since past one week, the encounters between militants and security forces have not yet come over, today an unidentified militant was killed in an ongoing operation near Safawali Gali along Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. A top army official said that the encounter broke out near Safawali Gali adjacent to Batpora forests after a joint search party of 10 JAKLI, 57 RR and 41 RR challenged the movement of a group of infiltrators during pre-dawn hours today.The firefight between the two sides continued intermittently till today morning, the army official said. He said that during a search operation, a body of an unknown militant has been recovered along with an AK rifle. Two soldiers are also said to have received splinter injuries and have been evacuated to hospital for advanced treatment, the official told early times. When asked that from past one week various encounters have took place in north Kashmir, he said that, number of militants have gradually come down, and they are taking shelters in the dense woods, there is a big challenges to the security forces. There are hilly terrains and we don't want there should be any sort of collateral damage to the general public and we are also not giving them any chance to move in the nearby villages, the official informed. However cutting short he said that, the operation against the militants in the area is going on, he added. Meanwhile sources said that security forces on Monday evening launched a CASO in Khanpora area of Baramulla district. They said that a joint team of army, Police and CRPF sealed Khanpora area and conducted search operation, till the last reports came in. |
