SPCB carries out anti-polythene drive

Rajouri, July 16: Continuing campaign for making Rajouri polythene free and aware the masses on danger of plastic in our environment regular programme such as anti-polythene drive in the district hav been carried out by the Divisional Office SPCB in association with district administration, FPF etc. Today on the directions of the Regional Director SPCB Jammu Er. J.N Sharam and District Administration Rajouri an anti-polythene drive was carried out jointly by the SPCB Divisional Office Rajouri and FPF Gamma Unit Rajouri from Malik Market to Khoera Rajouri areas of Rajouri City and total 10 Kg of polythene has been seized. The drive carried out keeping in view World Environment Day this year theme of 'Beat Plastic Pollution'.
During campaign violators have been given strict warning that in case of further violation they will face heavy fine. In this drive consumers and shopkeers were briefed about danger of plastic in the environment and stressed upon them to minimize the use of plastics like polythene, multilayer packaging, pet bottles, poly products etc. which are detrimental to the health and environment. People were also made aware of the disposable plastic and their products which have been choking our environment especially aquatic environment and days are not for away when all our water bodies such streams, rivers and sea would full of disposal plastic waste.
