MGNREGA employees' stir continues, demand resolution of issues | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, July 16: The employees engaged by the state government under centrally sponsored scheme Mahatma Gandhi National Ruler Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) today hit out both at centre and state governments for their disparity with over 4500 MGNREGA employees. They said that MGNREGA employees of Rural Development Department & Panchayat Raj (RDD&PR) are working since last several years have been denied their genuine rights as the successive state governments fail to frame any job policy for them forcing these employees to choose agitation path and are on state wide strike since last 8 days asking the government to fulfill its promises with regard to framing of job policy for not only employees of RDD working under MGNREGA, but also in favour of other such employees including those employees working under centrally sponsored schemes like NRHM. The GRS, Technical Assistants, Computer Operators, Junior Engineers, Programme Officer and other supporting staff were on indefinite strike since last 8 days as a result of which the functioning of RDD&PR department has come to standstill, thus causes lot of inconvenience to the people visiting the Block Development Offices and other offices of the department throughout the state. While talking to "Early Times", Firdous Ahmed, GRS working under MGNREGA said that both state and union governments at centre fail to provide them their legitimate rights added that J&K state is among few states of the country where there is no job policy for the employees working under various centrally sponsored schemes including MGNREGA. He urged upon the Governor to look into the issue and get it resolved once and for all. |
