SKUAST-TAJ seeks enhancement in retirement age

Jammu, July 16: SKUAST- Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) appealed to the Governor of J&K for increase in the retirement age of varsity faculty members / scientists from 62 to 65 years.
While chairing a meeting of office bearers, President SKUAST-TAJ Dr. Vikas Sharma said that G. B. Pant University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Pantnagar and Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, have taken the lead in this regard and fixed the age of superannuation as 65 in the year 2013 there by retaining the excellent human resource.
Dr. Sharma said that Central University of Kashmir and Central University of Jammu have 65 yrs age of superannuation for their teachers, since their inception and this is in tune with the recommendations of University Grant Commission (UGC). He informed that in the recent Council meet Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Jammu also increased the superannuation age of their teachers to 65 and the agenda item regarding enhancement in superannuation age of teachers has already been approved long back in the Council Meet of University of Jammu and University of Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Dr. P.K. Rai - Joint Secretary, Dr. Devinder Sharma - Publicity Secretary, Dr. Rajeev Bharat - Treasurer, senior executives Dr. Puneet Choudhary and Dr. Jai Kapoor
