| AAP Governor, to form elected Block Development Council, District Development Boards | | | Jammu, July 16: The J&K Aam Aadmi Party hailing the Governor for turning tables on erstwhile BJP-PDP by rescinding the amendment of direct election to the office of Sarpanch, under Panchayati Raj Act, has urged upon Governor to make history in the state by forming elected Block Development Council (BDC) and District Development Boards (DDB) so that like other states in the country, the poor people of J&K state also get the benefits of first ever institution of "Block SAMITIS" Block Development Council & District Development Boards or "Zilla Pareshads".
The release added that these institutions have never been formed here by the successive state Governments as they never wanted to decentralize the powers into the hands of public representatives in a democratic manner for fear of losing the charm of cozy chair and getting irrelevant. The release expressed wonder and surprise because successive state governments have brutally destroyed the constitutional and democratic institutions as a result people lost faith in the system and caused alienation which ultimately culminated in death, destruction and anti-national feelings for which none else but successive governments are answerable to the people of the state and the nation. The JK-AAP has appealed the masses to teach such forces a lesson in the ensuing Panchayat and local Bodies elections because these forces are squarely responsible. |
