Hiranagar, July 16: A 31 year old married woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her home in ward No 11 of Hiranagar Tehsil of Kathua district on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Ritika (32), a physical education lecturer, who was posted at Higher Secondary School, Chakra, Hiranagar. After getting information about the incident, on Monday morning the woman's parents along with some villagers reached Hiranagar Sub District Hospital and held a strong protest, alleging that their daughter was murdered. They demanded that her husband be arrested. Meanwhile, the SDM Hiranagar Suresh Chander and Additional SP Nasir Khan and other police officials reached on the spot and pacified the protestors. They were assured that the guilty would be booked as per law. Meanwhile, Hiranagar police have initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 of the CrPC. |
