7/23/2018 10:15:52 PM
Early Times Report
RAJOURI, July 23: Nowshera police in Rajouri district have initiated an inquest proceedings under section 174CrPC after an unidentified body, probably a resident of PoK, was found near the Line of Control (LoC) in border village Sair.
Villagers claimed that the deceased was among a group of cattle lifters who attempted to enter the village after crossing LoC but died due to electric shock.
Pertinently few incidents of cattle lifting have been reported from this village during last 1-2 months.
The matter was also brought in the notice of police but police failed to take any action and the inhabitants of the village decided to plug the entry points at their own by passing current though the wires during night hours.
Meanwhile, village also decided to keep night watch in the shifts on the possible entry by the bovine lifters from across the LoC.
According to villagers, a group of three cattle lifters attempted to enter the village but when the leading man died due to electric shock others two fled back.
"The matter was brought to the notice of police by the villagers and a police party was rushed to spot, retrieved the body and after legal formalities brought the body to Sub District Hospital at Nowshera for further investigation," said a police officer. Police have recovered Rs 400 Pakistani currency, mobile phone manual, 11 cigarettes and one lighter from the possession of the deceased.
"As the police is still in dark about the identity of the deceased, how the incident has taken place etc, so we decided to start inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC in this matter. Passing of electric current by the villagers can also be not denied. Investigation is in progress and soon truth will be before the people," said ASP, Nowshera, Master Popsy.
