GCPWF-J holds meeting, highlights demands

Jammu, Aug 29: A meeting of General Category Peoples' Welfare Forum Jammu (GCPWF-J) was held under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of the Forum.
In the meeting, Banathia demanded government focus on removing discrimination being done to so called upper castes in the name of social justice.
He said that fundamental rights of any particular communities should not be curtailed or denied because of their forefathers' deeds.
He also demanded withdrawal of all privileges, quotas, special concessions by government given on the basis of births.
Birth is not a qualification and it should not be a disqualification. Yash Paul Sharma, President of the Forum alleged that government has been advocating and promoting the cynical minorityism, casteism, communalism, pseudo­ secularism all d appeasement policies and harmed the interest of General Category peoples.
He said government has distance itself from projecting the cause of common masses particularly its core constituency and it will harm the party.
He said that General Category people would no longer reconcile with their second class status. He demanded abrogation of all such laws and provisions which contradict or violate the fundamenta.1 rights to equality and equal opportunities in public employment. Som Nath Sharma, General Secretary of the Forum demanded ending of neglect and fnsult of Swarn Castes by government and stressed for "Equal Rights and Equal Laws for all".
