'Influential' engineers enjoy overstay, works suffer | Locals seek probe | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Aug 29: Two allegedly influential engineers have been enjoying overstay at the office of PMGSY at Sunderbani here but at the cost of public works that have been "suffering unheard." Official sources said two engineers including a Junior Engineer and the Assistant Executive Engineer for six and eight years respectively have not been transferred form their present place of posting. Officials said normally the engineers are transferred every two years but these two owing to the alleged influence they enjoy were allowed to work from same place of posting in brazen violation of norms. "The have been appeasing some politicians and senior officials, and thus they are not being transferred. But this has encouraged corruption in the system," the officials said, on the condition of anonymity. The Sunderbani locals said various schemes for public were being misused by the engineer duo. When contacted the engineers said the Raj Bhawan should be contacted to know as to why they have not been transferred for years. Meanwhile the locals have appealed Governor SP Malik to get the matter probed. |
