Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 29: There is no dearth of talent in Jammu and Kashmir, and that talent should be used for the welfare of the state and the nation, Director General of J-K Police SP Vaid said.
He said that the police is alert and is trying their best to prevent the youth of the Valley from deviating to the wrong path. "Whenever we see a youngster is getting distracted, we get in touch with the parents and their peer groups to bring them back to the right path," the officer told .
He also said that the youngsters in the Valley now understand that they are being used for the wrong purpose. And they are now focusing on what is good for them. He added that the situation in the Valley is much better than what it used to be. Following the increase in the number of youth falling victims to the drug menace, the Jammu and Kashmir Police took the initiative to set up a drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centre -- first of its kind in the district of Kathua -- to bring back youngsters on the right track.
Vaid inaugurated the renovated drug de-addiction centre, set up in the premises of District Hospital in Kathua. The centre has a six-bed capacity and medical treatment and counselling cell.
While talking to media persons, Vaid said: "We have to start this centre with the help of District hospital and need to equip it with more facilities for which we have asked some corporate houses and other organizations for help."
The youngsters present also said that the drug menace was increasing day by day. They added that such rehabilitation centre would help the youth and their family members to get the medical support and counselling to live a normal life.
