Poonch, Aug 29: An alert was sounded in Poonch district on Wednesday after service weapon of a cop went missing under mysterious circumstance from District Police Lines (DPL) Poonch.
"Immediately after the matter came to the notice of senior officials the said cop has been placed under suspension, detained and an inquiry has been initiated in the regard", said SSP Poonch-Rajiv Pandey.
As per reports an AK-47 rifle with a magazine of a constable Farooq Ahmed posted as PSO to DySP DAR Poonch went missing on the intervening night of August 26 and 27 from District Police Lines (DPL) Poonch.
"Soon after the matter came to light, an alert was sounded and searches were conducted in police lines to recover the weapon but nothing was found so far," said a police officer.
"We are looking into the matter and nothing can be said at this moment," said SSP Poonch. |
