Jammu, Aug 30: DPS Jammu held its 20th Investiture Ceremony "Sankalp Se Netratv Ki Aur" 2018-19 with great pomp and show today in the school premises.
Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The event was attended by around 2500 students and 100 teachers from the middle and senior wings of the school.
All the dignitaries, escorted by NCC Cadets, were accorded a formal welcome. Principal, DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra presented a potted plant to the Chief Guest as a gesture of gratitude to welcome him in the auspicious ceremony.
The event commenced with the DPS Song followed by the Decoration Ceremony of 70 students holding different offices of the School Council and Prefects, who presented an exemplary March Past to the tune of the School Band. They took pledge to uphold the school motto 'Service Before Self' in high esteem and to deliver their duties to the best of their abilities with trust bestowed upon them.
The Chief Guest, Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu congratulated the school cabinet and in his address emphasized on the importance of pursuing what one is capable of and exhorted the students to carry out their duties with sincerity, dedication and commitment.
The Principal, DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra advised the members of the Students Council to act honestly, diligently and responsibly. She also administered the oath to the newly appointed Cabinet. Earlier, a mesmerizing Bharatnatyam performance 'Tribute to Tagore' was also presented by the students of classes IX, XI & XII.
