| Fire breaks out at Uri; ESD, PDC offices reduced to ashes | | |  Mohammad Sarfaraz

BARAMULLA, Sept 2: Massive Fire broke out today in Electric Sub Division (ESD) in Mohra Uri, which gutted the entire building within no time reducing the records and equipment into ashes.
"Around seventy years old building that housed offices of Assistant Executive Engineers ESD and Power Development Corporation (PDC) was completely destroyed" divulged eye witnesses. They said that the fire started in one of the rooms in the building and spread quickly to the other rooms but the fire and emergency services from Gingal Uri could not reach in time to douse the flames, despite the fact that it was just half a kilometer away.
However sources said that by the time fire tenders from Uri reached the spot to douse the fire, a major portion of the building was destroyed in the blaze.
Sources believe that, short circuit could be the reason of fire. As per reports, the fire receiving station which is close to the building on fire did not suffer any damages. |
