Now CUS under scanner for Registrar's appointment
Complaint reaches Raj Bhawan
9/2/2018 11:11:46 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 2: After numerous complaints of alleged irregularities in the past, the Cluster University of Srinagar has come under scanner for the appointment of incharge Registrar CUS.
Sources said one in-charge Registrar has been appointed in brazen violation of norms to "benefit some quarters."
Officials told Early Times that notification for the post of Registrar was announced in February 2018 after which around 20 candidates who were "fulfilling the criteria" had applied.
Officials said only five of the applicants were shortlisted. But instead of making the final selection of the Registrar, the CUS has "out of the way" given the charge to one of the five applicants as the "Incharge registrar."
Sources said this candidate who allegedly enjoys patronage of some politicians has been deliberately given the charge so that when the final selection out of the five shortlisted is to be made, he will have be on the priority.
A senior official in the Higher Education Department on the condition of anonymity told Early Times that it was unethical to appoint one of the applicants as incharge when the final selection has not been done.
"This is a case of illicit selection because under norms none of the shortlisted can be made as incharge because if one of them is taken up for the post for the others will be almost ineligible," the official said.
Sources said the office of the Vice Chancellor is understood to have succumbed to "political pressures."
"In the past few months most of the appointments and even transfers have been politically motivated. Even the orders of the previous Governor were not adhered to in some cases," said an official.
