DKD organizes marathon against drug addiction

UDHAMPUR, Sept 2: To aware youth and general public about the menace of drugs, the Dogra Kranti Dal (DKD), an NGO, organized a Marathon- run against drug addiction, here today wherein scores of youth participated and vowed to fight against drug.
More than 350 youth including 20 girls from Garnai and Malhar panchayats participated in the Marathon, which started from Garnai and culminated at Rathian.
On the occasion, former MLA and president Panthers Party Balwant Singh Mankotia was the chief guest, who flagged off the Marathon.
Addressing the youth after the culmination of the Marathon, Mankotia said that participation of such a large number of youth in this Marathon against drug addiction has set an example in the entire Udhampur assembly constituency as well as the state. Mankotia congratulated locals and youth of both Garnai and Malhar panchayats over the healthy participation and said that it is the start of war against drugs which will convey a positive message to the state as well as the whole country.
Mankotia appealed to youth and locals to make every person and home aware of drugs. They should take resolution to never touch such a life threatening thing.
In the end, felicitation ceremony was held in which first prize of Rs 5100 was given to Joginder Kumar, second prize of Rs 3100 to Sandeep Sharma and third prize of Rs 2100 to Akhil Sharma in boys category.
In girls category first position was taken up by Simran Sharma, second by Shamshaad Bibi and third position by Isha Verma.
