| Felling of trees for construction of road | | HC directs to file affidavit | |

Jammu, Sept 6: A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Sindhu Sharma in a PIL directed respondents to file an affidavit stating therein the number of green trees and dried trees that may have to be felled during the construction of road through the forest area and also furnish the details of number of beneficiaries, which might ultimately be benefited on account of the construction of the road, within a period of four weeks.
This significant direction has been passed in a PIL seeking direction to the respondents not to fell trees and engulf forest land falling under compartment nos. 79/K, 122/K, 123/K and 124/K of Kalakote Range in Rajouri Forests Division in the public interest. |
