Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 20: Well, in the medical field, everyday one has to face complicated cases, but there are some cases that become an example. In Amandeep Medicity, Amritsar, a rare case came few days ago. 58 year old woman Harjit Kaur (name changed), resident of Chheharta, Amritsar whose stature was just 4 feet 6 inches, body weight 77 kg and the body diameter 1.72 sq m. The woman's neck was too small and the veins of the neck did not appear properly due to the high obesity. The legs were too thick. The patient was having constant pain in the chest and was getting chocked & unstable angina. On examination in the hospital, it was found that the blood vessels of the heart (Aortic Anulus) are too small in size and due to obesity, the heart walls got swollen which caused the heart to require more oxygen to work properly and the heart was functioning 25% only (ELVF 25%). For this reason, heart was requiring more power to function properly.
Dr. Bhawna Singh, HOD CTVS & Dr. Manish Arora, HOD Cardiac Anesthesia, Amandeep Medicity concluded after a meeting with their team to go for the bypass surgery of the patient with 3 grafts & valve replacement. The patient's heart was functioning only 25 per cent & the risk was too high. The team of doctors decided to do the surgery by putting the heart on the "heart-lung machine". The heart was placed on a "heart-lung machine" for 3 hours 40 minutes and the team of doctors started the surgery. After all, the hard work of 8 hours did a miracle and the surgery was successful. Dr. The experienced team of Dr Bhawna Singh succeeded in giving the patient new life.
