9/20/2018 10:24:24 PM
Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Sept 20: Accusing discriminatory attitude of previous governments by ignoring long cherished demand of Dogra community declaring 23 Sept as State holiday on occasion of birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, Shiv Dev Singh, Provincial General Secretary JKNPP appealed 'His Excellency' the Governor of J&K state Satya Pal Malik to make announcement of State Holiday on 23rd September which was long overdue for the last 70 years. He was addressing a press conference here today at Ramnagar. While addressing the conference, Singh described Maharaja Hari Singh a legendary figure and true patriot who had enormous contributions for J&K State but despite that could not get due honour because of having biased attitude at the hands of opportunist Kashmiri rulers. Besides other contributions, he acceded the J&K state to the union of India by signing the historic Instrument of Accession of October 26, 1947 which was one of the historical landmark in the history of J&K state. He further maintained that Maharaja Hari Singh provided justice to all irrespective of any caste or religion and declaration of his birthday as state holiday would be a befitting tribute to the legendary ruler.
