| 2 Militants Killed in Bandipora | | |  Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 20: Security forces killed two militants in an operation in north Kashmir's Bandipora on Thursday.
"Body of a militant has been recovered while another is lying at the encounter site. The cordon-and-search [operaiton] is intact as the area is vast. No firing is taking place at present," said Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Range) Swayam Prakash Pani.
The two militants were surrounded by the Army's 14 Rashtriya Rifles, the police's Special Operation Group and the CRPF during a cordon-and-search operation at Shukbabun area of Sumlar village. "As the forces intensified the searches, the militants opened fire on them triggering off a gunfight," said the police.
The operation was launched following movement of militants in the area. The slain militant's identity and affiliation could not be established immediately. |
