Thakur Randhir Singh for action against JMC | | | JAMMU, Oct. 7: Former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh has condemned the action of Jammu Municipal Corporation for cutting the trees in the park situated in the middle of the EP Flats at Wazarat road. The park is having the plantation of Sheesham, Ber, Sagwan and other ornamental trees. On 5th October, Jammu Muncipality officials without informing any habitant of the flats and even the electricity department start cutting the big branches of the trees with the help of huge crane planted in the park without the permission of the Forest department. There are standing orders by the National Green Tribunal that no plant is to be cut. The Jammu Municipality committed a crime, Singh said. Singh demanded that proper investigation in this matter against the Jammu Municipality officials. He further said that How and Why they have gone against the policy of Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal. Singh said it is the policy of Govt to plant more trees to make Jammu clean and green. Singh regretted that despite of his approach to the Jammu Municipal Commissioner he was not available on telephone. He further added that nothing has happened in the same area where drainage is blocked at many places. Singh appealed to the Governor to see the working Jammu Municipal Corporation and institute an enquiry. |
