Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 7: In the first of its kind, a nukkad natak was staged at the Mahanpur Degree College that depicted the message of non-violence, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, peace and harmony to the general masses. This drama was a part of celebrations that are being done to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. On this occasion, Professor Bharat Bhushan Anand, former Director Gandhian Study Centre and an eminent educationist was the chief guest. The function commenced with launching of cleanliness drive in the College Campus in which all the students participated enthusiastically, which was followed by the nukkad natak written by Prof. Naresh Kumar and staged for the first time in the campus. The Principal Dr. Nutan K Resutra while extending formal welcome to the guests and others elaborated upon the teachings of Gandhi ji and called upon the students to implement them in letter and spirit. He said that students are the true ambassadors of thoughts and can make everyone act upon them. Prof Bharat Bhushan Anand lauded the acts of students in presentation of drama and said that their hidden talent needs to be given wide exposure so that they can shine on larger flora. He also presented an elaborate and thought-provoking lecture on the teachings of Gandhi ji and their significance in today's turmoil situation in the world. He also presented cash reward to students who had presented drama, especially praising the act of student Gautam. The students also took out an impressive rally on this occasion. They were carrying banners and slogans calling upon all to follow cleanliness, preserve environment and avoid the use of polythene. All the staff members including the Principal and the guests also marched in the rally. The students' rally passed through main bazaars of Mahanpur and was welcomed by citizens there. Gautam, Dinesh, Ranjeet Kumar, Sahil, Sidhant, Kripal Sharma, Vikram Balmotra, Shivali Devi, Asha Devi, Ajay Sharma, Balbir Singh were that prominent who had participated in drama and devotional songs. |
