Early Times Report Mendhar, Oct. 7: Belying tall claims of the government of providing better road connectivity in the district, said that majority of the roads across Poonch are in a dilapidated condition. The locals said, "One of the important roads, Sagra to Balhar road and other adjoining villages is dotted with potholes from last several years. This road connects several villages up to Sagra area with the Mendhar town. Due to the pathetic condition of the road, students and employees face immense hardships to reach their respective destinations." The residents of Sagra and Balhar alleged that the officials of concerned department are not inviting any tender for the repair of this road. "Due to the dilapidated condition of the road and lack of proper drainage system, the commuters are facing problems," they lamented. The passenger vehicles have also suffered damages due to the condition of the roads. "Our vehicles have incurred heavy damages. Majority of the drivers avoid plying their vehicles on this road and as a result, the passengers have to bear the brunt," he said. The residents appealed to the District Development Commissioner poonch to intervene in the matter and do the needful at an earliest. |
