Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 7: Security forces on Sunday afternoon launched a cordon-and-search operation in parts of Sopore following gunshots near Seelu area in North Kashmir, Reports said that some gunshots were heard from an orchard near Zangir Mode in Seelu. Soon after the incident, a joint team of Special Operations Group and army cordoned off the Zangir Mode and New Colony in Sopore. The forces, according to reports, had apprehensions that militants fired the gunshots towards the naka party and with the help of additional reinforcement launched a cordon-and-search operation in the whole area. SP Sopore Javid Iqbal said that a police team has been deputed to the site and are verifying the incident. Iqbal confirmed the forces have launched searches in the parts of Sopore. Security across Jammu and Kashmir has been tightened as four municipal committees of Kupwara and Baramulla districts of North Kashmir are head to local bodies elections tomorrow. |
