Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 10: With an aim to give a further boost to Azolla propagation among dairy and poultry farmers, Animal Husbandry Department Jammu organized a "hands on" demonstration of Azolla production in newly designed "Azolla Beds" at Belicharana campus today. Hands on training was given to trainees of Stock Assistant Training Institute & Entrepreneurs from EDI, Jammu; in collaboration with Disha Organics, Jaipur. Azolla a fern, very easy to grow contains 25-31 % protein, rich in Vitamins & Minerals, when fed @ 2-3 Kgs to dairy cattle improves milk production up to 01 Kg. Poultry when fed Azolla @ of 30-40 gms. per bird improves egg production & quality as well as improves Broiler meat production. Rajasthan A.H.D. has been granted Rs 6 crores budget for this project & about 9000 Azolla beds have been established in various drought-prone and fodder scarce districts of the State. A question-answer session was also held. Dr. Daleep Pandita, CGM New India Assurance Co. along with Principal, SATI and LDO, Farms inaugurated the newly established Azolla Bed & also spoke on the occasion. |
