Crucial bridge not repaired in four years | People risk their lives each day | | MS Nazki
Early Times Report
Poonch, Oct 10: Two school going children of village Kallar Kattal in Surankote tehsil had a narrow escape when they began drowning in the river while crossing it using wooden logs as the bridge upon this river had been washed away during the flash floods occurred in 2014. Due to timely intervention of locals , the lives of boys namely Rizvan Ahmed of 7th class and Mobin of 5th class both resident of Kallar Kattal who were crossing the river flowing through Pir ki Gali to Kallar Kattal via Surankote could be saved. In the absence of bridge locals have made a temporary alternative by putting some wooden logs over It which becomes very risky at times as the river witness sudden increase in water level. Villagers have expressed their resentment over the official apathy as administration has failed to repair the bridge in the last four years. Sub divisional Magistrate Surankote Mohd Salim Qurerni While talking to Early Times said that it was a grave issue and assured to take it up with concerned authorities on priority. |
