MV international school visits post office on national post day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 10: On account of National Post Day MV International School organized a visit to 'Head Post Office' Gandhi Nagar, Jammu for Juniors of Grade 3rd to 5th. Aim of the visit was to acquaint the children about working of Postal Department. Students purchased envelopes & stamps from the post office and posted letters to their parents and friends. It was delightful to see excitement on the children's faces as they posted their envelops in the post box. Earlier the students and teachers were welcomed by Post Office. They were taken around, to see how letters are collected, segregated, stamped and then stored in pigeon holes for the postmen to collect and distribute them further to the address. It was altogether a great learning experience especially in times of e-mails and whatsapp. Students and staff of the school expressed gratitude towards the Indian Postal Department which is serving the nation with admirable zeal and enthusiasm. Although we are living in the age of emails, mobile phones and faxes but we must not forget that it is the postal service that has remained the largest mode of communication in India. With the arrival of new age technologies and new modes of communication, the usage of traditional mailing services has reduced but it is still the primary and not reliable. |
