Pak orders several NGOs to cease operations and quit the country | | | Thank God all the 18 NGOs,that have been or dered to cease their operations and leave the country has had no link with India.Since these NGOs has no link with India Pakistan would have blamed New Delhi for running these NGOs for the sake of spending money on the poor when actually their job was to motivate the youth against the Pak Army and the civilian Government in Islamabad. Pakistan has ordered as many as 18 international non-governmental organisations to cease their operations and leave the country within two months. The interior ministry has given 60 days to those International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGO)s for closing down their operations. Among the 18 INGOs, nine have association with the US, three with the UK and two with the Netherlands. Others have connections with Italy, Switzerland, Denmark and Ireland. Action Aid and Plan International are among the charities asked to shut down. In addition, the ministry also imposed restrictions on 72 NGOs for inadequate documentation. The government has allowed 141 NGOs to continue their functions, including 66 foreign entities. This partiality as far as Islamabad Government is concerned.Whether these NGOs were really helping the poor and the depressed classes and if it is so there would be public uproar. Already Pakistan's economy is sinking because of its insistence on spending major portion of annual budget on the defence. Your can well imagine the impact of the order when it has Action Aid and Plan International too ar e asked to shut their operations. These NGOs had nbo link with terrorist organizations otherwise the orders to them to shut down and leave Pakistan should have happened years ago. Islamabad has fears that these NGOs had plans of promoting pro-US, pro-UK and Pro-Italy sentiments among the people. Now that Pakistan may suffer heavy losses if these NGOs were providing financial aid to the poor that too when already the US has imposed some sanctions by cutting down 300 million dollar military aid. This means either Pakistan has to bank on other super powers for the losses or for providing military aid that could compensate for the losses suffered because of the cut in military aid by the US. In any way these NGOs were rendering service to the people and the poor. These NGOs were trying to supply medicines, milk and financial aid to the needy and as such Pakistan may suffer some form of revolt. |
