Govt adopting different yardsticks to deprive KPs of their rights' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 17: The exiled Kashmiri Pandits has been deprived of RBA status thus denying the benefit of this particular category to Kashmiri Pandit migrants belonging to RBA areas from Valley. According to source, different yardsticks were adopted by State Government in this regard and the migrants from other communities especially from majority community are taking full advantage of RBA status. According to sources, the decision to deny RBA status to Kashmiri migrants was taken by Omar Abdullah Government in 2010 on the pretext that the displaced Pandits no longer live in RBA areas of Valley but in townships in Jammu and other parts of India after the mass exodus . This decision generated a lot of resentment among Pandits who termed the decision discriminatory. During last eight years the Kashmiri migrants launched protest demonstrations in support of the demand and also met every one in Government demanding the restoration of their RBA status but to no avail. Ridiculing the Government for saying that their votes are registered at Kashmir Valley, they said the statement that they live in townships in Jammu and elsewhere in India makes no sense. This way Government at the behest of some vested interests is leaving no stone unturned to harm the cause of KPs and forces them to live as baggers for rest of their lives. This shows Government adopting double yardsticks on KPs. It uses every formula to suit it and deprive them of their rights. This had put a question mark on credibility of State Government, sources said. |
