Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 18: Traffic was restored on Thursday on 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh National Highway (NHW), the only road linking Ladakh region with Kashmir, after remaining suspended due to snow and slippery road condition on Wednesday. Hundreds of valley bound vehicles, including those carrying passengers and empty trucks and oil tankers, left Drass, Meenmarg and other places early in the morning for Sonamarg in central Kashmir. No vehicle is allowed from opposite direction to avoid any accident or traffic jam during this period, official said. Meanwhile, the Srinagar-Jammu national highway and Mughal road are through for traffic with some restrictions on traffic movement. According to the police, traffic will be allowed from here to Ladakh immediately after last vehicle from other side reach Sonamarg. The 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only all weather road connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, was through for traffic, official said. |
