Casual, consolidated employees of ULB deptt hold protest in support of regularization | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 3: Hundreds of casual, consolidated and adhoc employees of Urban Local Bodies department today lambasted the successive governments of the state and carried out a protest demonstration in support of their demands. Reports said that the employees including the sanitation staff under the banner of Urban Local Bodies Employees United Forum (ULBEUF) assembled at the Habitat Centre, Bemina here and carried out a strong protest demonstration in support of their demands. The protesters said that their services should be regularized without any further delay. The protesting employees said that their regularization should be taken up under SRO 64 and that the dilly dallying tactics need to be put to end at the earliest. The employees said that the previous state government exploited them and came out with mere assurances with nothing practical happening on ground vis-à-vis their regularization. The employees also took a dig at the former Directors of the department saying that these officers also failed to provide justice to them by not ordering for their regularization. The employees said that they are facing huge problems and it is getting difficult for them to carry out daily chores of life. Addressing the employees, President ULBEUF, Manzoor Ahmad Pampori said that it is a pity that despite putting in their duties even during exigencies the consolidated as well as daily rated workers are not being regularized. He said that the people at helm should at the earliest issue orders for regularization of such employees. The ULBEUF President said that minimum wages should be paid to such employees and there should be no discrimination in this regard. He said the wages pending for such employees along with other employees of the department should be released at the earliest so that these people don't face further problems. The protesting employees also took exception to the alleged pressure being exerted on them to give up their claims in the form of lodging protests and other similar programmes on regular basis. They said that they would continue to raise their voice and would not cow down by threats. |
