Udhampur, Nov 4: In continuance with awareness camps in Zone Tikri, a farmers awareness camp was organised at Panchayat Dhanoo. The programme was held under supervision of Ajay Sharma, Agriculture Extension Officer Tikri as directed by Harbans Singh, SDAO Udhampur. Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Sharma AEO Tikri urged upon the farmers to make a shift from subsistence farming to profitable one by cultivation of cash crops like pulses and vegetables. For achieving these motives, he encouraged farmers to adopt micro-irrigation and poly-houses. Narinder Verma, JAEO outlined the proper cultural techniques including weed and disease control for wheat, other crops. Pankaj, AEA of concerned Panchayat asked the farmers to actively claim benefits from extension and subsidy schemes provided by Deptt. Kamal Jit Singh, AEA dwelled upon the supplementary role of soil water conservation techniques for optimum crop growth. Anjana Mahajan, AEA made the farmers aware about importance of organic farming including indigenous methods based on 'PanchGavya'. Vegetable seeds and Dhingri spawn was also distributed among participants. Satpal Singh, JAEO; Amit Gupta, Sumesh Sharma, Manjeet Singh and Sandeep Gupta were present in the programme. |
