Rajouri, Nov 12 : A special program was organized at District Hospital Rajouri, where health functionaries and general community were made aware regarding importance of celebrating the World Antibiotic Awareness week and an antibiotic policy was farmed to be followed strictly in the hospital, moreover the hospital infection control committee was also reframed. While speaking on the occasion the Medical Superintendent District Hospital Rajouri Dr. Mehmood H Bajar said that World Antibiotic Awareness Week aims to increase awareness of global antibiotic resistance and to encourage best practices among the general public, health workers and policy makers to avoid the further emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance. A global action plan to tackle the growing problem of resistance to antibiotics and other antimicrobial medicines was endorsed at the Sixty-eighth World Health Assembly in May 2015. One of the key objectives of the plan is to improve awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance through effective communication, education and training. The antibiotic policy is the set of strategies and activities undertaken to organize the antimicrobial treatment in the hospital, and achieve health outcomes for patients. An antibiotic policy is now more necessary than ever for clinical, epidemiological and economic reasons. The Infection Committee is responsible for the antibiotics policy in hospitals. Its functions as an advisory body to the medical directorate are the analysis of the epidemiology of the infections in the center, measures for its prevention and control, improving the appropriate use of antimicrobials, training, and knowledge production. |
