Chander Mohan, Purnima assume office of JMC Mayor, Dy Mayor | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 17: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Chander Mohan Gupta has assumed office of the Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) while Purnima Sharma has taken over the charge of Deputy Mayor JMC after performing religious rituals on Saturday at Town Hall Complex Jammu Municipal Corporation, Jammu. Both newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor had won the election on November 15. Chander Mohan Gupta received 45 votes out of 75 votes while Purnima Sharma polled 48 votes out of 75 votes. Deputy Mayor, JMC Purnima Sharma addressing the gathering said, "I am thankful to people who have voted for me and I am thankful to the BJP. We will leave no stone unturned for the development of Jammu. We will listen to the people and will work on to address their problems." "We will study the incomplete projects of Jammu and with the help of concerned departments will try to finish those projects as soon as possible and will make Jammu beautiful," she added. Mayor said that first we have to look into the staff capacity of JMC so that we can continue our work. I along with deputy mayor and other councillors will work for the people of Jammu as they have pinned hope on us and have voted us. Gupta further said "We will make Jammu a smart city. There are already many projects going in Jammu be it gondola project, artificial lake or Zoo. We will work for the betterment of Jammu so that tourists across India will come and visit Jammu as this land has a history of being called as city of temples." |
