Minimum temperatures throughout valley remains below freezing point | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 8: The minimum temperatures throughout the valley and the Ladakh region remained several notches below the freezing point. The Met department official said the Light rain and snow is likely to occur in the state during the next 48 hours. He said Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius. The night temperature in Qazigund town in south Kashmir was minus 1.6 degrees Celsius while nearby Kokernag town registered a low of minus 0.9 degrees Celsius last night, the official said. Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 6.0 degrees Celsius. The night temperature in Pahalgam - the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra - settled at a low of minus 3.7 degrees Jammu city recorded 7.7, Katra 8.2, Batote 4.1, Bannihal 1.9 and Bhaderwah 0.8. Kargil in Ladakh was the coldest place in the state where minimum temperature was minus 11.4 degrees followed by Leh minus 6.6 degrees. |
