The heroes of Gujjars of J&K

Excluding Leh and Kargil Gujjar-Bakarwal community has its habitation in 20 (twenty) districts of J&K state with their population in lakhs. They mostly resides in far-flung, hilly, mountainous areas near forests and on the LoC of Indo-Pak Line of Actual Control. Problems and needs of Gujjar-Bakarwal community are quite different from other communities of J&K state. Language and culture of this community is also different than those of other communities of this state. That is why this community has its own Peculiar position and as such the community has a distinct identity.
The Gujjar-Bakarwal community of J&K state of India is economically, socially, educationally and politically backward.
All Gujjar Bakarwals of Jammu & Kashmir state belongs to Islam religion.
1-LATE MOHD. DIN (PADMA SHRI AWARDEE).
Late Mohd. Din belongs to the Muslim Gujjar community and a resident of village-Dara Kasi about Three (3) Kilometres away from Gulmarg (Kashmir valley). On 14th August morning, 1965 when he went to graze his live stocks Dhanvas grazing field on the up hills of Gulmarg Kashmir valley, he saw some persons coming towards him. They requested him to do them a favour and for this they offered to give some money. They took him six/eight Kilometres away from his village and Gulmarg respectively, where he saw that about one square kilometre forest had been cleared where about one thousand strangers were staying, with all kinds of military arms and ammunition. They told him that they had come from Pakistan and wanted to liberate Kashmiri breathren. They asked for the easy route of Gulmarg and also enquired about the Indian military installations. Invaders informed that they would pay Rs. 400/- to each and every guide of this area. They detained him till evening. After sometime they gave Hundred rupees Indian currency note to him to purchase cigarettes from Tangmarg. He reached Tangmarg in the morning of 15th August and informed Police about the matter. After few hours of this information Police officers reached on the spot and with the help of Indian Army the Invaders were taken into Custody. Late Choudhary Mohd. Din was awarded with Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1966.
On 2nd may, 1990 Pakistani terrorists killed Late Choudhary Mohd. Din on the charge of being Pro-India.
2-LATE MAULVI GHULAM DIN (ASHOK CHAKRA AWARDEE).
Late Maulvi Ghulam Din belongs to Muslim Gujjar community and a resident of Village-Dalan, Poonch district, Tehsil-Haveli, Jammu & Kashmir. During the 1965 Indo-Pak Infiltrators slipped into our territory of India. The infiltrators had expected that the villagers would join hands with them and ultimately assist them. Late Maulvi Ghulam Din not caring for his life motivated the villagers against the Infiltrators and organised network designed to provide information to our troops of Indian Army about the hideouts and whereabouts of the Infiltrators.
This sterling work done under the able guidance of Late Maulvi Ghulam Din earned him at "Ashok Chakra" after the war in 1966.
3-MIAN BASHIR AHMED (PADMA BUSHAN AWARDEE).
Mian Bashir Ahmed belonging to Muslim Gujjar-Bakarwal community and a resident of Village-Wangat, Tehsil - Kangan, District-Budgam, of Kashmir valley is a Gujjar saint and politician of Gujjar-Bakarwal community of J&K.
Mian Bashir Ahmed has been Members of Legislative Assembly (M.L.A) four (4) times in J&K. He always worked for the welfare and upliftment of Gujjar-Bakarwal community of J&K. He also played a vital role in the promotion and upliftment of Gujjar culture and Gojri language.
He motivated the Gujjar people to always work for the national integration and their loyalty towards the nation. He always encouraged the Gujjars to defend their motherland India and he himself also played an important role in the defence of his country (India).
He is a great saint and his followers are more than lakhs in J&K.
Mian Bashir Ahmed Larvi is called "The hero of the Gujjar Bakarwal Community of J&K".
Mian Bashir Ahmed is still alive and has been awarded with "Padma Bushan" by the Government of India in 2007-2008 for his loyalty towards the nation.
Mian Nizamuddin the Father of Mian Bashir Ahmed Larvi had been the Member of Legislative Assembly (M.L.A) for 20 years.
Mian Bashir Ahmed Larvi's son- Mian Altaf Ahmed has been the Member of Legislative Assembly (M.L.A) five (5) times and is still the Member of Legislative Assembly (M.L.A) in the constituency of Kangan in Kashmir valley.
4-SHAMSHER HAKLA POONCHI.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi S/o Wazir Mohd. Resident of Village-Bandichechian, Tehsil-Haveli, District-Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir state born on 19 December 1972 Shamsher Hakla Poonchi (A) prominent Muslim Gujjar leader, scholar, writer, philosopher and an intellectual of (J&K) has done a lot of social works without any personal interest with dedication, sincerity and honesty. He has rendered excellent services for upliftment of down-trodden section of society and for the noble course of poor strata of the country. He has strengthened communal harmony among different communities.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi has written a large No. of Articles and papers relating to the Gujjar History & Culture and Gojri language and also on difficulties & problems of the Gujjar-Bakarwal community published through the national and regional print media and also broadcasted on the electronic media.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi played a vital role in developing the Gujjar-Bakarwal community (Schedule Tribe) of J&K educationally, socially, politically & economically. He always highlighted the problems and difficulties faced by the Gujjar-Bakarwal community (Schedule Tribe) of J&K by keeping their problems in front of the govt. at time and he worked a lot to solve their problems and also worked for the promotion and upliftment of Gojri language spoken by Gujjar-Bakarwal (Schedule Tribe) community of J&K.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi is still alive. Shamsher Hakla Poonchi the hero of community of j&k. state.
5-LATE CHOUDHARY FATEH ALI SARVARI KASSANA .
Late Choudhary Fateh Ali Sarvari Kassana belongs to Muslim Gujjar community and was a resident of District-Jammu, J&K. He worked for the welfare and upliftment of Gujjar-Bakarwal community of J&K. He also played a vital role in the promotion of Gujjar culture and Gojri language. He motivated the Gujjar people to always work for the national integration and their loyalty towards the nation. He always encouraged the Gujjars to defend their motherland India and he himself also played an important role in the defence of his country (India).
Late Choudhary Fateh Ali Sarvari Kassana worked in the social, political and educational awareness of the Gujjar community.
Late Choudhary Fateh Ali Sarvari Kassana is a great journalist, writer, philosopher, social reformal, social worker.
