KPC urges international human rights body to feel pain, sufferings of KPs | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 8: In connection with international week of Human Rights, Kashmiri Pandit Conference ( KPC ) has appealed international human rights body to intervene as the distinct ethno-religious community of the Kashmiri Pandits who have a history of more than five thousand years of a rich cultural tradition and a unique religious philosophy of the universality of man, peace and amity amongst peoples but has repeatedly been the tragic victim of religious persecution, forcible migration, violence and brutal massacre at the hands of invading Muslim zealots and religious fanatics leading to repeated exodus of the community, rendering displaced in their own land. The KPC said the plight of the community is worst and thousands are dying in the miserable camps for want of basic amenities, shelter, medicare and family support; and thousands of its youth are getting scattered in search of livelihood. It is feared that at the present rate of dispersal the community is disintegrating beyond redemption and facing total extinction. The Government of India has also failed them as they are still living as refugees in their own country from the last 29 years. Both the state and central governments have not taken substantial measures till date for the return of Kashmiri Pandits on the land of Kashyap as per their wise and aspirations and made them suffer in camp and non--camp accommodations and are victim of grave human right violations. The KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri appealed international human right body to intervene and save this peace loving community of Kashmiri Pandits. |
