Struggles of internally displaced KP community not acknowledged: Kiran Wattal 1/19/2019 11:08:15 PM Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 19: Vishwa Kashmiri Pandit Samaj (VKPS) observed Holocaust Day here today. It was on January 19, 1990 that the Kashmiri Pandit community were forced, haunted and compelled to leave Kashmir Valley. Speaking on the occasion, Kiran Wattal, convenor VKPS, said that that the struggles and vulnerabilities of internally displaced Kashmiri Pandit community has not received acknowledgment. It is ironical that even though the UN Human Rights Council has given recognition to the rights of internally displaced people but no such awareness has been spread nationally. Wattal said 30 years ago the Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) were put to brutal killings, atrocities, harassment and forced to leave the valley. Since the KPs have been continuously and vigorously demanding probe into the killings and the circumstances that led the community to leave the valley. He said successive governments utterly failed to address the core issues and burning problems of KPs, which are multiplying day by day. Recently GOI launched Ayushman Bharat scheme for poor people, again KP community, depending upon the meager source of relief has been deprived, said Wattal adding that the government must implement this scheme to KP migrants also. While speaking he said, of course government is providing a little succour to migrants by way of accommodation, but without proper and adequate basic facilities. The PM package employees are facing many and multiple problems; he said adding that the traders, businessmen and over-aged are the worst suffers of migration. He expressed sincere thanks to all KP organizations for the slogan of one community, one voice raised by Vishwa Kashmiri Pandit Samaj. He also appealed the community to be united at this crucial juncture.
