Jammu, Jan 23: Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, the Railway Police recovered a US made pistol from washing Line at Jammu Tawi Railway Station here today which is few hundred meters away from the Jammu University grounds where Republic Day celebration function will be held this year. DySP Anita Pawar-SDPO Railway Station, Jammu said that in view of upcoming Republic Day celebrations, security and checking was enhanced at the Railway Station. "During a mock drill exercise which was conducted today afternoon jointly by Jammu Railway Police, Railway Protection Force and CRPF, an abandoned bag was found lying near washing Line outside the Tata Muri Express halted at the yard towards Udhampur end," DySp Anita Pawar, SDPO Railway Station, Jammu here said. She further said that the train had arrived from Samabalpur, Ranchi to Jammu and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) alongwith dog squad was immediately pressed into service. "During frisking of the bag, one US made pistol with empty magazine and three pairs of male clothes was also found", said DySP Pawar The weapon was seized on the spot, said the officer and added that a case under FIR number 1/2019 under section 7/25 Arms Act was registered while the matter is being investigated. |
