Jammu, Feb 2: Acting on the complaint of consumers, extensive checking of items displayed for sale was done in the store of Easy Day chain situated at Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. According to complainant, a large number of eatables items with deficiency in mandatory declarations were being sold to the consumers and other declarations on the packaged commodities were too not legible. The case was booked by Inspector Rohit Gupta and all such deceptive packages were removed from the shelves and a fine of Rs 25,000 was imposed and recovered as composition money. In another case a Hard ware store at Nanak Nagar was too fined for Rs 10,000 for selling items of sanitary items without MRP,PKD, Net Weight and Consumer helpline numbers as required under PCR 2011. A total of 35 traders dealing with different trades were penalised and a total of Rs 81,000 fine was imposed and recovered. |
