Modi forgets J&K still has separate Constitution | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 5: Like his party, Prime Minister Narendera Modi too has forgotten his promises and assurances of complete integration of Jammu Kashmir with rest of India and this was evident from his speech at Vijaypur where he made a big faux pas. In an attempt to woo the voters, Mr Modi was listing so called initiatives of his Government and also made reference of 10 percent quota to unreserved categories. He said that this 10 percent reservation would greatly help and benefit youth of Jammu and Kashmir also. The aging Prime Minister apparently forgot that this reservation of ten percent by amending Indian Constitution is not implemented in Jammu and Kashmir, which has its own Constitution and laws. For implementation of the Indian laws in Jammu and Kashmir, the State constitutions needs to be amended by the Government here because of Special status and Article 370, which was once upon a time had been biggest issues of the Bhartiya Janta Party for emotionally befooling the patriotic people of Jammu region. The party, which claimed to have commitment for `Eik Vidhan Eik Nishan' (One Constitution, one flag) and kept nationalist voters exploiting their sentiments, forgot its own most favourite slogan for enjoying loafs of power alongwith opposite pole PDP. Even Narendra Modi, during his public rally at MA Stadium in 2014, himself had announced to abrogate Article 370 in case BJP comes to power. In the same year. BJP came to power at Centre as well as in J&K and the height of shamelessness on part of the saffron party could be gauged from the fact that party not only deleted this issue from its agenda but also the BJP ministers kept State flag hoisting on their official vehicles. |
