| Alert CRPF guard ensured timely response to fire in GMCH | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 18: Alertness of CRPF guard today ensured timely response to fire in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Sources said that at about 2100 hours on Sunday, the drug store building of GMCH caught fire and guard on duty in the adjacent CRPF camp noticed smoke coming out of the building.
Sensing danger he immediately informed the matter to senior officials in the camp and subsequently, CRPF officers present in the camp informed the matter to GMCH authorities.
In the meantime, CRPF troops rushed towards the incident site while fire extinguishers and GMCH authorities also reached the site. Within no time, dense smoke engulfed the entire building and CRPF troops alongwith fire extinguishers, broke the windows and tried to retrieve the important logistics and started extinguishing the fire.
Soon, senior officers of CRPF and GMCH authorities also reached the site. The joint dousing operation of CRPF and fire extinguishers continued throughout the night. The fire was finally doused by next morning. Alertness of CRPF guard and bravery of troops helped in extinguishing the fire and preventing it from further aggravating it. |
